Foster 40-20LO is an acrylic copolymer emulsion coating specifically formulated to seal the surfaces of substrates. When used over duct liner insulation it will seal and re-surface the insulation, retarding release of loose fibres. The dried film is resistant to the growth of mould and mildew. As a result, when used in HVAC duct systems building occupants may enjoy a work space free of the odour problems often associated with contaminated systems. It is ideal for sealing surfaces after mould remediation has been completed.
Foster 40-20LO provides a tough, elastic, decorative finish that allows for movement without splitting and creating lodging places for bacteria. Because its formula contains specialty pigments, when Foster 40-20LO is used on metal surfaces such as galvanised and primed mild steel, it helps provide protection from rusting.

Apply Foster 40-20LO to all surfaces by brush or airless spray at a rate of approximately 0.51L/m2. Always ensure adequate ventilation. Brushing will require two coats applied at 90° to each other. Under normal circumstances a spray application can be completed in one coat but for extremely porous or irregular surfaces, a second coat may be required. Ensure that the finished surface is smooth and homogenous. For airless spray applications, use an electric 30:1 unit with a 0.021-0.025 fluid tip and 800-900 psi atomizing pressure at the gun.For HVAC systems interior surfaces: HVAC systems must be under negative air pressure during and after application to allow for exhausting of odours and rapid drying of the coating.
Note Continue to circulate fresh dry air throughout the area during the application and for as long after the application as is possible. Exhaust circulated air outside the building or occupied space. If air must be exhausted inside the building circulate air through an air scrubbing filtration system with odour absorbing medium such as a charcoal medium. This circulation and filtration helps to reduce the dry time of the coating and reduce latex type odours that could possibly migrate from the application area. Be sure exhausted air is odourless before venting into occupied spaces.
